Autumn in Maine and New Hampshire

Day 1 Join us as we travel North today to Maine! This is a good time to enjoy the crisp, cool days of Autumn and take in the scenic colors along the way. We will make our usual rest and meal stops (on own). We will check-in our resort in Ogunquit for our 4-night stay. Dinner (incl.) nearby and evening at your leisure. Ogunquit, which is an Indian name meaning, "Beautiful Place by the Sea" because of the three miles of sandy beaches, sand dunes and surf.

Day 2 Enjoy a full breakfast at the motel. Depart with local guide for a driving tour of four distinct areas – York Beach, York Village, York Harbor and Cape Neddick. A photo stop is included at "Nubble" Light – one of the most frequently photographed and painted lighthouses. We will tour Kennebunkport, see the Wedding Cake House, the Franciscan Monastery and former President Bush’s summer estate on Walker’s Point. Lunch (on own) followed by free time to shop in Dock Square. Return to Ogunquit and Perkins Cove. We will take a 50-minute narrated harbor cruise aboard The Finestkind, where you will see lobster traps pulled and learn about lobstering! Enjoy Perkins Cove, the shops in downtown Ogunquit, walk the beach or the Marginal Way Path along the rocky coastline! The footpath offers amazing views of the sea as well as of the summer cottages that line the path and ends at Perkins Cove, a picturesque harbor surrounded by galleries, restaurants and boutiques.

Day 3 Breakfast at motel. Meet local guide and continue touring of Bath, Maine. As we arrive at the Maine Maritime Museum, we will meet our guide for the Bath Iron Works 1 hour "behind-the-gate tour". This General Dynamic Company specializes in the design and building of U.S. Navy destroyers and illustrates the importance of present-day shipbuilding in Maine. Return to Museum and enjoy an orientation presented by a museum docent. Depart museum and enjoy a boxed lunch while you take a 1 hour cruise aboard Sagadahoc on the Kennebec River. Return to the Maritime Museum (adm. incl.) and take a self-guided tour. View gallery exhibits, visit the historic shipyard, walk along the river, enjoy lobstering exhibits, shop at the museum store and see how the museum collects, preserves and interprets materials related to the maritime history of Maine. Return to Ogunquit and dinner is (incl.) locally.

Day 4 A full breakfast is included at motel. Depart with local guide to tour the Lakes Region of NH. Enjoy Castle in the Clouds (adm. incl.), a magnificent mansion set in the mountains overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. Originally called "Lucknow", the home was "the fulfillment of a dream of a turn-of-the-century industrialist, inventor and millionaire" and features skilled hand craftsmanship and technological innovations. Lunch (on own) and free time in Wolfeboro for shopping. Relax on a 1-way scenic cruise across Lake Winnipesaukee – New Hampshire’s largest lake, aboard the M.S. Mt. Washington from Wolfeboro to Weirs Beach. Return to hotel and dinner (incl.) with choice of lobster or other entrée choices.

Day 5 Enjoy breakfast at motel before departing for home. Now you can tell family and friends what a beautiful time you had in scenic Maine and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire!
